This subfield is developed from researchers who focus on drivers and barriers of a sustainable change of mobility. Against the background of an understanding of the heuristic term "sustainable mobility", that still has to be defined, (and assuming that mobility is an important factor of human well-being) the researchers will analyze (sustainable) mobility as an essential factor of influence for the economic and societal development in the Upper Rhine region. In addition, possible conflicts (socio-cultural, regional, environmental and so on), that can come into existence caused by grants in the public traffic and alternative technologies in the individual traffic, will be analysed. Furthermore, socio-technological innovations, individual, need-oriented solutions and customized forms of mobility will be examined.
